Wavetable Assembler V2
The original Wavetable Assembler did one job: concatenate a set of imported Single Cycle Waveforms (SCWs) into a single wavetable. With this update, it has been rebuilt from the ground up into a complete wavetable builder — covering waveform generation, spectral and time-domain effects, frame arrangement, and morph-based wavetable design, all in one free browser-based tool.
What’s New Compared to the Previous Version
- Flexible SCW import — Single Cycle Waveforms of any length can now be imported, including sets of waveforms with different lengths per frame. The previous fixed-length restriction is gone.
- Audition mode — Play imported or generated waveforms directly from an on-screen keyboard. Switch between previewing a single SCW and previewing the assembled wavetable as it morphs across the keyboard range.
Single Cycle Waveform Generation
- Basic waveform presets — Generate saw, square, triangle, and sine waveforms as a starting point with one click.
- Randomized generation — Create waveforms from a randomized harmonic spectrum, or from random curve/line-segment shapes, for quick experimentation and happy accidents.
- Draw tool — Sketch waveforms freehand, or with straight-line and curved-line drawing modes.
- Additive synthesis engine — Design waveforms harmonic-by-harmonic with an additive synthesis engine supporting up to 1024 partials, with direct control over each harmonic’s amplitude and phase.
Effects for Single Cycle Waveforms
- Spectrum FX — Work directly on the harmonic spectrum: remove even partials, isolate prime-numbered partials, thin out partials, and shift, zero, randomize, or smooth phase — plus harmonic stretch and dual-shift operations for spectral reshaping.
- Effects — Reshape the waveform itself with Phase Distortion, Phase Modulation, PWM, Wave Folding, Drive, Sync, and AM/RM processing.
Frame Rearrangement and Copy/Paste
Frames can now be copied, pasted, and rearranged freely, and the editor implements two distinct workspace modes: TimeLane and Keyframe.
TimeLane Mode
Build a wavetable with up to 256 frames. Import multiple Single Cycle Waveforms at once, or import an existing wavetable in a single pass (2048 samples per frame). Individual frames can be sampled out of an already-imported wavetable and reused as standalone SCWs, letting you resample and recombine material from existing wavetables into a new one.
Keyframe Mode
Designed for building morphing wavetables. Place up to 16 Single Cycle Waveforms as keyframes, and the frames between each pair are interpolated using a two-stage morphing pipeline:
- Spectral morph/warp stage — crossfade, zero-phase, spectral-wander, spectral-ripple, spectral-drift, soliton, KdV dispersion, and slink algorithms control how the harmonic content transitions between keyframes.
- Effect stage — Phase Modulation, PWM, Phase Distortion, Sync, Drive, and Wave Folding can be layered on top of the morph, with their intensity swept across the transition for organic, evolving timbral movement.
Wavetable Assembler is free to use directly in your browser — no install required.
